York's weapons bite deep, and the wolf falls to the ground.
The other wolf sees his companion fall, and lunges forward, going for Yoru.
5R|CTR7g1d20+5 Damage: 10
(That's a hit.) The wolf bites down on her arm, and tries to pull her to the ground.
(Yoru make a DC 13 Strength Saving Throw. In other words, roll 1d20+0, and if you get a 13 or higher, nothing happens and you manage to pull your arm out of the beasts' mouth. Get lower than a 13, and the wolf pulls you to the ground.)1d20+5
And the wolf is dead, Yoru's sword sticking in it's skull.
The large wolves, almost as tall as Yafira, lie bloody and singed from the magic and blades that score their hides. Jasper's Acid Arrow continues to eat through the wolf's side. It would not have survived, even had Yoru missed.
Irene stood there, her sword in hand, her eyes wide. "I'm sorry," she said. "I...must have froze. I've trained a lot, but I haven't...I mean..."
Her cheeks went red, her embarrassment clear. "Lets get going. The Vistani should be close."
The road gradually disappears and is replaced by a twisted, muddy path through the trees. Deep ruts in the earth are evidence of the comings and goings of wagons.
The Canopy of mist and branches suddenly gives way to black clouds boiling far above. There isa clearing here, next to a river that widens to form a small lake several hundred feet across. Five colorful round tens, each ten feet in diameter, are pitched outside a ring of four barrel-topped wagons. A much larger tent stands near the shore of the lake, its sagging form lit from within. Near this tent, eight unbridled horses drink from the river.
The mournful strains of an accordion clash with the singing of several brightly clad figures around a bonfire. A footpath continues beyond this encampment, meandering north between the river and the forest's edge.
Following Yoru with her eye, Yafira noticed the tent standing on the lake shore. She had thought they’d have to introduce themselves by the bonfire, but now another option presented itself. “What do you know about Madam Eva?” she asked Irena. “Is she social at all?”
Irena shakes her head, "All Vistani are social. I don't know much about Madam Eva. Just that she tells fortunes, and knows much about the land. My grandfather used to talk about her. Well...Ismark's grandfather, I guess. Said he went to see her once, but wouldn't tell me what she told him."
Yoru goes down to the lake. It's a lake, alright. In the western edge, she sees it become a river flowing through a steep canyon, the top easily 300 ft up. She can barely make out a bridge connecting the two cliffside high above the river.
Pulling off her leather armor, Yoru scooped up some water and hissed as the puddle of water cleansed her wounds. That pink barrier shielding Jasper when the wolf attacked... A soft exhale escaped her lips as she plopped onto the grass. Maybe she should take a short rest. The walk was exhausting.
Yafira watched Yoru a little longer, enough to be assured that there weren't any threats around the lake. As much as her instincts as a healer urged her to help, she knew the girl wouldn't take kindly to Yafira hovering.
Yafira nodded toward the bonfire and said, "Perhaps we should introduce ourselves. Surely, they'd know where we can find Eva."
Jasper trailed quite far behind Yafira and Irena. He’d normally be closer but he was tired and put off by those wolves or whatever they were. At home there wasn’t any creatures like them. His mind spun with thoughts of this place was so different and angry. It wasn’t surprising. It was just all new for him to handle. He wondered if he should go to Shrahd and say he wanted to leave, be back home where he belonged. He shook himself out of that thought as it was by far the most boring and easy way out of it and he’d feel awful if anything happened to the others.
He sped up and saw Yoru heading off somewhere.
“Well...Yoru’s made the right decision. I need some time by myself after all that fighting. Those wolves were vicious.” He smirked to hide how tired he felt and to make him feel better. “I should help with the Eva situation but this seems to be a good time to take a break. I won’t go far. I’ll be around here if you need me.”
